App Chronicles: The untold stories of India’s app entrepreneurs

VMAX App Chronicles

India’s love for smartphones makes it one of the top mobile phone markets in the world. What is lesser known though is that this love extends to the apps that live on these smartphones. India is now the third-largest market in the world when it comes to Google Play Store downloads.

However, it’s not just the top few favorite apps that have made India’s app ecosystem as big as it is. Thousands of apps, made by many highly enterprising and ambitious, yet lesser known independent app entrepreneurs are the driving force behind this growth.

We’ve often come across untold stories of such app entrepreneurs. The stories of their struggles and making it on their own, are often drowned in all the noise. We felt it was time the world heard their stories.

Driven by this passion, we’ve created App Chronicles, a first of its kind short film series that brings to fore, the untold stories of the faces behind India’s rapidly growing app ecosystem. App Chronicles celebrates the early milestones of those in the journey of becoming a successful app entrepreneur.

Season 1 of App Chronicles features 5 such stories which will be released on a daily basis. The season kicks off today with the story of UnderDOGS Gaming – a game studio made out of strong resolve and determination. The next few days will cover stories of – the king of photo editing apps, Outthinking Pvt.Ltd; the risk taking nature of Dumadu Games; the passion and resilience of Mobi2Fun Mobile Entertainment and the young and restless GameEon Infotech.

App Chronicles is a small effort on our part to catalyse the growth of India’s app ecosystem. We hope that these stories will inspire budding app entrepreneurs and other young, mobile-savvy Indians to explore the world of app development and bring out the true Make in India flavor of India’s app ecosystem. The series is written and directed by award winning screenwriter and dialogue writer, Ramendra Vasishth of Mary Kom fame.

If you have a similar story to share, we would love to hear it from you and hopefully feature it in our Season 2. Please write to us on Twitter – @hellovmax or email us – hello@vmax.com
